How Betting on Myself at Social Fest Led to My RGVision Feature

I Wasn’t A Spectator, I Participated.

Most people attend events as spectators.
They walk the room, grab a drink, make small talk, and leave inspired, but unchanged.

I almost did the same.

At a local conference called Social Fest, there was a booth hosted by RGVision Magazine. They were running a simple competition: best pitch wins.

No formal invitation.

No prior relationship.

No guarantee.

Just an opportunity.

I could’ve walked past the booth. I could’ve told myself I wasn’t ready, that I needed more experience, or that someone else probably deserved it more.

Instead, I stopped.

I trusted my message.

I bet on myself, and I participated.

One decision created a ripple effect

That one “yes” led to:

  • Winning the pitch competition

  • Being invited onto their podcast

  • A feature inside their magazine

  • Increased visibility and social media growth

  • New conversations, connections, and opportunities

Not because I was louder.
Not because I was luckier.

But because I chose to engage instead of pass by.

This is how visibility actually works

So many business owners believe visibility comes after confidence, credentials, or perfection.

In reality, it comes from action.

Exposure follows participation and momentum follows courage.
Here’s what you need to know: opportunity compounds when you stop waiting to be chosen.

This is something I see constantly with my clients. The opportunity is often already in the room, but hesitation keeps them seated on the sidelines.

What this means for you

You don’t need a bigger audience to start.
You don’t need a perfect pitch.
You don’t need permission.

You need clarity in your message and the willingness to raise your hand when the moment presents itself.

That’s the work I do with my clients, helping them clarify who they are, what they offer, and how to step into rooms ready to participate, not just observe.

Because the businesses that grow aren’t always the best-kept secrets.
They’re the ones brave enough to be seen.

If you’re ready to stop waiting and start participating, I’d love to support you.
